Too many times creatives are told that personal work has no place in a portfolio, that real-world examples are the things that will stand out and get noticed. The truth is an artist will always be their own harshest critic, so chances are if they show a personal piece then you are seeing what they believe is worthy of being shown, and that speaks volumes.
